The founding idea.
#1. What sparked the idea of My Paper Projects?
I’ve always been the kind of person that prefers to make things myself.
When I got into planning and journaling again, I started making my own stickers.
My friends saw and asked for them. Then, random people on Instagram also started asking where I got my stickers from.
In the end, I decided that maybe I should just bite the bullet and sell my stickers for fun.
Well, that was almost 10 years ago.
When that took off, I started my Etsy shop to make the process easier for international customers.
The name, My Paper Projects.
#2. Is there any story behind the name, My Paper Projects?
Not really.
Even before the stickers, I had a company making paper flowers for parties and events. So, paper has always been the centre of my crafts.
Though the company was called something else, I knew that paper will always be the centre of everything.
Define My Paper Projects.
#3. If people were to ask you what is My Paper Projects, how would you define it in your own words?
We design and hand make paper products for planners and craft projects.
The target market.
#4. Do you have any specific target market?
Yup.
Crafters, planners, journalers and those that are into scrapbooking.
The way of marketing.
#5. How do you market your business, and which tactics have been most successful?
Social media and local bazaars.
Social media disseminate information and promotions we have in store better, and local bazaars are great ways to meet our customers face to face!
The funds.
#6. How did you raise funding for your venture?
I started small, with just a sticker cutting machine and using my existing computer and printer. So the cost is not that high.
And plus, I was already in my 30s, with a steady day job (that I left 3 years ago).
So, funding wasn’t really an issue.
The ideas.
#7. How do you generate new ideas?
By going on social media and predicting the next trend in the paper craft world.
Satisfying moment.
#8. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
When I get to move out of my office, quit my day job and set up my own studio and retail front.
Future goals.
#9. What are the future goals for My Paper Projects?
To come up with even more exciting products.
We’re now one of the largest in-house rubber stamp designers in the country.
We produce a minimum of 5 new stamp designs each month.
The challenges faced.
#10. Are there any challenges faced by My Paper Projects since it was first established?
Yes, copycats.
We’ve had so many people copying our designs both in Malaysia and outside of Malaysia.

#11. If you had a magic stick, which are the three things you would change in the world?
- Make the cure for cancer easily and readily available.
- Restore the climate back to when it wasn’t ruined by greedy humans.
- Make all of the deliciously, sinful food and desserts good for your health.
